About CrabFree Rowing:our sad, half-a-boat

CrabFree Rowing is, primarily, a tee-shirt company. It was started in 2007 by a group of Umass Lowell Crew Team members. UML had, up until very recently, no funding for their boathouse or for their crew team. This made it exceptionally sad when, on the way to the Dad Vail regatta, two of our boats fell off the trailer we had rented, and were completely ruined. (Sure, we had insurance, but they were OLD boats... and we mean OLD) So, members of the team decided to come up with a fundraising idea, and since we only ever saw each other at 5AM in spandex, natrually our thoughts turned to sexual-innuendo (and rowing... of course). While making fun of each other for catching crabs, or being too fat to cox, we realized - hey, other people might think this stuff is funny, we should put it on shirts!
So, we did. And here are our shirts. CrabFree takes pride in having some of the best, funniest, rowing-themed humor around. Don't forget to check out our contest details if you have a better idea than anything you see here - you could get free shirts!

What do your designs mean?

CrabFree's Rowing shirts are designed to be funny. They are not designed to be offensive. If you don't think they're funny, then you either: 1) don't know what crabs and cox are, or 2) don't have a sense of humor.
So, to educate everyone: (definitions taken from wikipedia)

A Crab: A rowing error where the rower is unable to timely remove or release the oar blade from the water and the oar blade acts as a brake on the boat until it is removed from the water. This results in slowing the boat down. A severe crab can even eject a rower out of the shell or make the boat capsize (unlikely except in small boats). Occasionally, in a severe crab, the oar handle will knock the rower flat and end up behind him/her, in which case it is referred to as an 'over-the-head crab.' So - a good rower should be Crab Free... in every way.

A Cox
: The oar-less crew-member, usually included, who is responsible for steering and race strategy. The coxswain either sits in the stern or lies in the bows of the boat.

I love your shirts. How can I buy them? I feel so bad for your crew team. Can I give you lots of money?

You can of course buy our shirts. The easiest way to buy them is to visit our store. Our store uses a PayPal cart, which is a secure method of on-line payment that accepts major credit cards. Our shipping prices are fixed, but are extremely low ($3 usually) because we fulfill them personally. By hand.

Most of our shirts are 100% preshrunk cotton. They are also 100% hilarious rowing humor. Your entire crew team would look wonderful wearing these shirts.
